A fine facet cut, lightly oval and tapered beaker or small vase, masterfully hand gilded with the winged Goddess Nike (Goddess of Victory), a coat of arms topped with a double cross, and further design elements that include acanthus columns, foliate scrollwork, an egg and dart band, and a scroll band. Condition: light rubbing to the gilt; light age and use wear; nothing further found. Circa 1830-50, probably South German, or Bohemian for the Central European market. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 12cm/4.75in, width 9cm/3.75in.
