A most impressive high relief moulded and deep groove cut ball shape vase in smoky olive, the front with an acid etched panel featuring the profile faces of a young man and woman in a leafy setting. The vase is cleverly optic cut with a series of circular lenses. Condition: stand wear to the under-base; one or two tiny nicks to high points; light age and use wear; nothing further found. Circa 1930s-40s, unmarked but almost certainly by Rudolf Hlousek, Eisenbrod. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Height 17cm/6.5in, diameter 18.5cm/7.5in, weight 2.86kg/6.31lb.
