A very handsome double ended crystal scent bottle, with foliate embossed silver hinged tops, and glass stoppers. The cranberry overlay body is cut to clear with diamond ovals, half lenses, and corners. Condition: barely noticeable neck and shoulder fissures to one end within the glass, invariably caused by too much force being used when inserting and twisting the stopper (see image); minor surface wear; silver tops very slightly depressed; nothing further found; some light hinge play but good snap closures. Circa 1870, silver not hallmarked but tested. Width 13.5cm/5.32in, diameter 3cm/1.18in.
