A handsome amethyst overlay crystal scent bottle, with a foliate scrollwork embossed silver hinged top, silver collar and glass stopper. The waisted body is cut to clear with angular stripes, bands, splits and grooves. Condition: one or two tiny nicks to high points; light surface wear; nothing further found; hinge firm, good closure. Circa 1880, the silver not hallmarked but tested. Height 8cm/3.15in, width 3cm/1.18in, depth 2.5cm/0.98in.
