A rare high relief tile in blue-violet and white tones featuring the sea nymph Rhodes (daughter of Poseidon and Amphitrite) holding a bowl of fruit, with whiplash outlines behind. Condition: tiny glaze losses to high points; one or two tiny edge nicks; light surface age and use wear; fine glaze crazing; nothing further found. Circa 1910, Villeroy & Boch Mettlach, Germany. Framed ready for hanging. Article measured in centimetres and rounded to the nearest quarter inch. Tile size 14.5cm/5.75in square.
